A Guaranteed Cure for Insomnia
So there is a new organization in the Midwest that promotes local authors. It’s called Bell Cow Productions, and I joined it last year just to see what it’s like. The two men who run it have a podcast called “Author Round Up” in which they interview member authors.
I agreed to do this. So early this year I did a zoom with them, and they asked good questions. I had fun!
At some point I knew they had posted the podcast, but I didn’t go looking for it. A few weeks ago I did, and there it was…online for ANYONE TO WATCH.
Here’s the problem. I cannot watch it. I watched about the first three minutes, during which I obsessed about my eyes—why are they open so wide? And the blinking—what’s that about? Do my eyes ever calm down?
I don’t read my books after they’re published. I don’t watch videos of myself. Not entirely sure why…possibly because once the book is out, there’s nothing I can do about it. Once the video has been recorded and posted, there’s nothing I can do about it.
But I’ve decided to provide the link so those of you who’ve never seen me talk or move can do so. Apparently my maternal grandfather (who died before my parents were married) talked with his hands. I’ve been known to do that…unsure if I do that here. As I said, haven’t watched it.
So…do I recommend sitting there and watching the whole thing?
God, no. Maybe put it on while you’re vacuuming or something. :-) Or even better, if you struggle to fall asleep at night, my podcast could be your melatonin, your ‘fall asleep’ medicine.
You’re welcome.
(You may need to hit their Subscribe button to watch, but there’s no cost and you can quickly unsubscribe…or you could watch the videos of my friends Jesse Chandler and MB Panichi and Judy Kerr. They are much cooler than I am!)
If you are really a glutton for punishment, there’s another link below as well. With the same organization, I participated in a discussion on writing across different genres. (Early in the video my laptop froze up so I disappeared, ran downstairs, then reappeared in the sunroom. Magic.)
More punishment--me as part of a panel on writing across different genres.

It was fantastic. I need to hear more about your belief in ghosts and time travel!
You’re cracking me up, Catherine! And I am going to watch this, but not while vacuuming. – Lol.
